Committee Descriptions
Chairpersons of the committees are designated by the active Chairman of the Board for the Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce. Chairs will select committee members, which in turn will develop the committee. Division Chairs may recruit as many Co-Chairs as they feel necessary when the Division functions as a committee. Chairs need to submit committee member listing at the first board meeting in January of each year.AMBASSADORS - This division plans and executes the Business After Hours and Ribbon Cuttings. Designated Chamber awards, Holiday Decoration Contest and assists with other social activities. Ensures members feel welcome and work hand-in-hand with other committees as a team to provide good membership contact.
BUDGET - Preparation and Oversight Committee – this committee works to help devise a plan for the yearly budget. The committee also, critiques the budget and makes sure we continue to serve our members and the Chamber to best of our ability.
BUILDING TASK FORCE - This task force works toward finding a suitable location to construct a new Chamber building and to develop a plan to fund that project. BUSINESS/COMMUNITY oversees any Community Programs, establishes an Industrial Committee; help resolve any member-to-member disputes, cooperate with the Lehigh Acres Community Planning Committee. The goal of this committee is to attract businesses and industry to Lehigh Acres.
EDUCATION - Responsible for raising funds to promote scholarships for local graduating high school students, looks for any Education Grants, develops criteria and the mechanics for the Chamber Leadership and Character Education Scholarships, Teacher Recognition and educations programs for members, using the facilities of the Small Business Development Center and other business help organizations. This chair will act as liaison with all Lehigh Acres Schools; to imitate a Teacher Recognition Program each month.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS - All affairs relating to county, state and federal government matters of interest to Lehigh Acres, and interaction with the appropriate officials fall under this division. Included are various Candidate’s Nights, maintain contact with the Horizon Group*. Leadership Lehigh establish a task force to run program
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE - and Membership Recruitment; overall responsibility is to increase the size of the Chamber. Chair works with the Committee, Board and Membership Coordinator to achieve goals and objectives address membership issues. It is important to have member recognition, interpersonal relationships and visitation of the existing and prospective member. MEMBERSHIP RETENTION TASK FORCE - Is a vital portion of this Committee; to monitor membership with special attention to new members, to encourage participation through committee membership and attendance at Chamber functions; to field any complaints by members and attempt to resolve them; to minimize loss of membership to those moving or retiring.
PUBLIC RELATIONS – Purpose of the committee is to act as liaison with the media, and to inform the public of the mission and the activities of the Chamber. To work with all the committees to insure media releases and promotion is enacted. Each committee is responsible for submitting the programs and announcements and details of events to this committee for publication.
SPECIAL EVENTS/FUND-RAISING - The fund-raising arm of the Chamber; this division survey’s the Chamber’s financial needs and plans ways to provide funds necessary for approved projects. Specifically responsible for the Annual Awards Dinner, Golf Tournament, May Themed Event, and Art Auction, other events may be added.
TECHNOLOGY/COMMUNICATIONS - for the technologically oriented members, who would like to participate in becoming involved in the design and implementation of the website, assist and ensure website including calendar information, is up to date, review office computer capabilities, and investigate advances in technology for possible use by the Chamber and its members.
